Nixon vs. Humphrey vs. Wallace

Thanks to the miracle of the internet, young people today can watch the awful television commercials of the 50's, 60's, and 70's--including the campaign commercials. Lucky you! Please take a look at a one or two of the 1968 presidential campaign commercials I link here:
What was the main theme of the commercial/commercials you watched? What issues were the candidates using to try to sway voters? Did the commercial/commercials seem to you at all likely to be effective?

  1. In the videos that I watches, the themes were very much all the same, they wanted to help the American people and they wanted to do it all by themselves. Many of the candidates thought they could do a better job at it then their opponents. Many issues were brought up with like what you as an American can do for your country, what your country leader can do for you. At the time that these commercials would of been air yes, i think they would of been very effective, but if you tried using them now-a-days, they probably would of just been looked by.

  2. Humphrey commercial was about Nixon. How Nixon hasn't done anything for anyone. The commercial wasn't very interesting at all. It was black and white and all it talked about was how Nixon doesn't do anything for anyone. it was plain, and simply just answering questions.

  3. All of the themes are against each opponents. Nixon is the main biggest one. Each theme tells how they will make the society a more protective/safe place. Better education, better stores. Except one theme.Humphrey details on how Nixon doesn't do anything for the American people. Pretty much tells people he's not worth being a president. But in my honest opinion, Nixon and Robert Kennedy commercials were more far the best and attention grabbing then the rest.
